PROLOGUE

1 Leave a comment on paragraph 1 0 This is not a new proposal; but still unknown to most activists. I attempted to promote these new actions within the anti-Vietnam War efforts in the 1960s. The insights came during my isolation from direct action when wintering-over in the Antarctic (as a research, auroral scientist) Oct1960-Feb1962. My first direct action, on returning to the USA in the late Spring of 1962, was a peaceful march against the War & for Civil Rights from Harlem to the UN. This peaceful action was enabled by the NYC police, but failed to attract media attention, as Vietnam was still below MSM’s radar. Later, I was near MLK when he gave his “dream” speech in DC. Anti-war and civil-rights were integrated, then – later to be separated.

2 Leave a comment on paragraph 2 0 I don’t call for an end of Protest-&-Resistance, P&R. It can be a very useful attention-gathering happening, WHEN covered by the MSM. However, marches are poor venues for activist organizing and for enabling significant learning in the general population. In short, P&R are re-active, not pro-active; ultimately dictated by the oppressors, to which we protest and resist, in hope that they might change. History demonstrates that gains from P&R are often not permanent, or only partial. US aggression and US civil rights policies still haunt us in 2018, and in a deep sense, more critical that they were in the 1960s.

SOME CONCRETE ACTIONS

3 Leave a comment on paragraph 3 0 MASS ACTIONS AS PRIMARILY EDUCATIONAL

4 Leave a comment on paragraph 4 0 Mass actions in a geographical region should primarily attend to informing, educating, and organizing the populations in the region. Do door to door work as well as systematic contact with persons walking, waiting in cars, and within stores, buildings, and waiting rooms.

5 Leave a comment on paragraph 5 0 With mobile phone coordination, mass actions can be distributed into larger areas. For example: dedicated groups to legally walk at every major intersection in a city.

6 Leave a comment on paragraph 6 0 Activist participation should be designed (OLLO) to support (seaf) learning and social growth among activists. “Education for Activists”.

7 Leave a comment on paragraph 7 0 Media should be both invited and facilitated (seafed) to cover these actions, including designed messages for the different media.

8 Leave a comment on paragraph 8 0 Materials given to persons contacted should be diverse and more specific to the different audiences and issues.

9 Leave a comment on paragraph 9 0 These actions should be repeated, periodically – with the same audiences, when possible.

10 Leave a comment on paragraph 10 0 MASS ACTIONS AS CELEBRATIONS

11 Leave a comment on paragraph 11 0 There are times and places for oppressed or concerned populations to express their frustration and legitimate anger directed towards those directing and contributing to their oppression. However, the strategy is misdirected if its objective is to motivate government officials and other elites to take action for the benefit of the general population.

12 Leave a comment on paragraph 12 0 Any “responsive actions”by elites taken (after P&R pressures) will be limited, mis-represented, and often not enforced. Elites strongly believe in the objective truth of their wrlds and view P&R as actions by evil adversaries. Any “give” will only be tactical. Converting the wrlds of elites and oppressors is much more complex and time consuming.

13 Leave a comment on paragraph 13 0 Instead of screaming slogans, organize celebratory & educational activities. These should be structured for media attention, and for informing media audiences with the information intended by the mass action.

14 Leave a comment on paragraph 14 0 Action supported “media” recordings should be made and strategies implemented to alert MSM media audiences of other venues to get better coverage of the mass action (e.g., through social media and alternative broadcast channels).

15 Leave a comment on paragraph 15 0 STRATEGICALLY INFILTRATE
SOCIAL MEDIA OF SUPPORTERS OF
ELITE/OPPRESSORS

16 Leave a comment on paragraph 16 0 Activist teams design/implement researched tactics to join social media (used to propagandize support for the oppressors) and slowly attempt to provide information that might disturb the participants’ belief systems. These tactical actions should be strategically experimental, to research means of reaching and moving INDIVIDUALS within these populations.

17 Leave a comment on paragraph 17 0 Conduct private dialog with persons identified as potential “converts”. Invite them to join activist social media sites to orient potential converts. Provide a new social media base for them. This social media base should be mediated to move it from just an exchange by individuals to a “socialized community” and OLLO site.

18 Leave a comment on paragraph 18 0 This should include “quality lessons” for learning to identify and process “evidence”. This should include how to “read” graphs and diagrams.

Example. The Trump issue about immigration at the Mexican border should be confronted by graphs showing the current immigration at RECORD LOWS!

Annual Immigration from Mexico 1991-2010
Apprehensions of Mexicans at US Borders 1960-2015
Many graphs.
